The Bill Rose Foundation held two fundraising events on June 22nd, 2023 to support its mission of bridging the gap between the academic world and the real-world application of turfgrass research and development.
The Golf Tournament
The 2nd Annual Bill Rose Memorial Golf Tournament at the Oregon Golf Association was a scramble format, with teams of four golfers competing for prizes. The course was located close to Field Day, and the weather was perfect for golf. The tournament was a lot of fun, and everyone had a great time.
The Taste of Oregon Experience
The "Taste of Oregon" experience was a one-of-a-kind event. It was held in the middle of lush 18ft tall hop rows, and guests were able to enjoy a variety of food tastings and wine from local businesses along with tasting Topwires homemade brews. Guests were able to learn about local businesses and enjoy some delicious food and drinks. The event was a great way to enjoy a summer day in Oregon and support a good cause.
Dinner Reception
The day was capped off with a dinner reception at Oregon Golf Association for all the golfers and the tasters. We presented the golf awards for first, second and third place teams along with the "most honest" team 😉 . The scholarship winners gave short presentations on their current research at their university, along with displaying their posters.
